The Waterstop has links to a number of excellent web-based videos (most mentioned above).
The above really is just a selection of what is available on the web although I think I have covered most of the good ones at present. Of course you can spend hours on the internet searching (if it's on youtube I think its public domain). Start with a Google video search or search Youtube.
There is also an Orienteering Internet Channel, WoO-TV. Click on the picture (right) for probably the BEST videos of orienteering available anywhere!!
Regular Videos
The US appear to have a good promotional video, you can preview it here, (or the youtube version) and purchase it through US Orienteering.
OAWA have had success using a specific video for teaching orienteering. "Orienteering - the first steps", produced for the BOF, and aimed at primary students to complement Carol McNeill's series of books for primary schools. It is available from the producer Mike Pearson. There are two videos, each with two parts. The first two parts cover orienteering in the school ground and a first bush event. I mainly use part 1, and sometimes part 2. They are too basic for secondary students. The other two parts would be useful for someone coaching 13-16yos or for a pretty advanced secondary school group - I don't use them much, but I think they are quite good – Tony Simpkins, WA
The WOC 2006 video is also available and Orienteering Australia has at least two copies, some states have their own also. The video is particularly good from an Australian perspective since Hanny Allston became Australia's first (and only) World Champion!
If you know of any other good orienteering videos for either teaching or promotion please contact Director (Development).
